Our client based in Ithaca, NY is a Contract manufacturer of printed circuit board assemblies. This is a direct opportunity.



The Quality Manager is responsible for the successful performance and continuous improvement of all aspects of the Quality Department. This position may require travel to customer or vendor locations. The Quality Manager is responsible for the following:



Responsible for planning and the successful realization of all objectives, goals, strategies and established metrics related to the Quality Department.

Responsible for the management, performance, and development of all Quality Department personnel.

Responsible for successful implementation, compliance, management, and continuous improvement of the company's Quality Management System (QMS) including related programs, procedures, work instructions, files, records, reports and logs.

Assures timely and successful completion of all Quality Department functional responsibilities including audits, analyses, corrective actions, alerts, training, non-conforming materials, calibrations, and tests.

Assures timely and successful resolution of all customer problems and complaints relating to Quality including taking formal corrective action and sending corrective action letters to customers documenting the company's plans for resolving problems and complaints.

Assures that appropriate Quality Department personnel participate in MRB and other meetings with customers, staff and vendors to promote the company and to build respect and goodwill.

Position Highlights:

 Responsible for executing supply base improvement strategy for assigned business units.  Improves supplier quality towards zero defect and productivity by prevention and continuously improving suppliers' internal processes.  Participates in supplier selection process.

Responsibilities & Qualifications:

 Drives supplier quality process improvements to meet business unit quality goals.Measures and drives supplier performance on quality and delivery to meet business unit goals.Drives communication with supplier to improve producibility and process capability of supplied goods.Participates in the engineering change process with suppliers to ensure revision control and manufacturing integrity of goods shipped to assigned business unit.Conducts supplier quality system auditsLeads team with Purchasing, Engineering, Plants, and Supplier on root cause analysis of current quality issues. Assists with supplier First Article submission, tracking, and reporting.Reviews FEMCA, Control Plan, and other manufacturing processes related to quality documentation.Supports TopX, MRB, SCAR, CSD, Cost Reduction and other corporate initiatives including DPM reduction and Supplier Scorecard monitoring.Actively participates in new product introductions through the use of quality planning tools like APQP and PPAP.Maintains a constant awareness and understanding of supplier capabilities and customer needs, both internal and external.Provides technical guidance to internal customers in specific areas of expertise.Develops new business unit related procedures as necessary.Performs other job-related duties as required. Minimum Requirements: BS in a technical (ME, EE, IE, etc.) discipline.  Broad manufacturing knowledge or experience in a cross-functional manufacturing background.  Demonstrated ability to drive results in a team environment.  Professional written and oral communication skills.  Working knowledge of ISO9001, effective problem solving, closed loop corrective action, and advanced quality planning tools.  Strong abilities in mechanical/electromechanical print reading, SPC, 8D, Six Sigma DMAIC and Lean methodologies.  ASQC Certification, i.e. CQE, CQA or CRE is desirable. Conducts all supplier business with uncompromising integrity, consistent with Universal guidelines.
